You hear, and read a lot about “work at home”. You receive a lot of junk mail related to it. In the end, either you hate it because of all the hassle, or you decide to ignore it, or you take the plunge. I’m telling you: it’s a jungle out there!

What is “work at home”?? There are two kinds of work at home:

1- Being employed at home: perform a specific task for a specific company (stuffing envelopes, taking surveys…) and getting paid for it.

2-Owning your home business: have your own website (your store where you sell your product or service), promote it in every possible way you can within the boundaries of ethical business behavior, bring traffic to it and generate profitable sales.

In my personal opinion, the second option is the best. It could be more costly at first, but it would be a perfect worthwhile investment. Imagine being your own boss, setting your own hours, making more than a decent living from the comfort of your own home, while being around your family and the people you love.

All this is very beautiful but there is a huge catch: COMPETITION!!! Do you know how many competitors you have?? According to Google, there are more than 3,300,000,000 websites! They are not all competing with you for the same products or services, but at least a percentage of them certainly are!

Does this mean that you should give up on the whole thing? Absolutely not! E-commerce is the future of commerce in general. More and more businesses, big or small are opening their “worldwide” branches on the web. Who knows, maybe in a few years, people will be doing all their purchases from their home or office computer, by then, maybe you will have your mall up and ready for them to make their purchases.
